History of the company

Creation of the company

In 1979, a first company, SOVIME was created by Michel LOUIS,

This company, specialized in the design and manufacture of special machines, quickly refocused on activities derived from textiles: coating on fabrics and composites, with as main customer Plastiques et Textiles Lyonnais, one of the leaders in coating in France.

This dynamic company, in search of new high-performance technologies, had a real need to improve heating and cooking techniques for its products, especially since the first oil shock had already occurred.

The idea was to use electric infrared, mainly short-wavelength, to insert them into their production line. This research, also in collaboration with the Renardières research centre, at the EDF in Fontainebleau, has enabled the implementation of high-performance furnaces, an example for PVC gelling, the furnace length could be reduced from 15 m to only 4 m in length, with exceptional yields, as well as total safety, thanks to the low inertia of the infrared. Then an infrared-heated cylinder was also developed by SOVIME,

Extension of areas of activity

It was therefore decided to create ISB Technologies in 1989, to continue the development, realization and marketing of these high-performance products.

Very quickly, new applications in different fields of activity emerged:

  • Automotive, for paint firing, and adhesive drying,
  • Food for gilding, increased shelf life for packaged products such as four-quarters,
  • Automotive subcontractors for seal drying: flocking and varnishing, thermoforming
  • Pharmaceutical industries for transdermal patch manufacturing.
  • Printing drying on cardboard….

Very quickly ISB Technologies was approved as a first-tier supplier, with the largest manufacturers in all these fields, and continues to discover new applications every day, following the requests made by its customers

The company is located in the Ain department in Montluel, about twenty km from Lyon, close to the main roads and motorways as well as Saint-Exupéry airport.

The premises house the design office, the test laboratory for the development of new products, the machine assembly workshop  and the adjustment of heating and control systems.
